As the Sewer Museum is an unusual, living site, it turns the spotlight on the rat. On the occasion of the Brussels Museums Nocturnes, the museum team will lift the veil on this little unloved rodent who lives side by side with us.
GUIDED TOUR Everything you always wanted to know… Our ‘Standing guides’ are ready to answer your questions about the world of sewers and rats.
GUIDED TOUR Tales of sewer dwellers, inner and outer. The sewers are a subterranean world of water, long corridors and dark inhabitants. Rats? Sure. Crocodiles? Perhaps. Rats live below and above ground in a separate world. Although, stories about rats also tell about people, and about Brussels. Narrator Selle de Vos unravels the world of sewers and their inhabitants.
EXTRA MUROS Nature and biodiversity in the city are often seen as a blessing in disguise. But some species, like rats, pigeons and mice, are just not that popular. In the company of Thomas Jean, the man behind La Minute Sauvage photographer of the exhibition Rattus, take a look at the city centre’s wildlife. These species and their amazing ability to adapt to human activities, buildings and urban development will no longer hold any secrets from you.
