The Sewer Museum invites you on an extraordinary journey. Immerse yourself in the history of the underground urban landscape by following the meandering path of the Senne, entering deeper and deeper into the bowels of the city. Soak up the atmosphere of a real sewer collector! Learn about sewer construction and repair, the hard work of sewage workers… not to mention the city’s water cycle. A living museum – it’s one of a kind!

Free entrance on every first Sunday of the month! Explorer notebooks for the little ones and audio guides in which you play the leading role are available on demand at the reception. Curious? Come and visit us!

Discover when, why and how sewers were built. Learn about the unusual working conditions of sewer workers. Discover the importance of water management in the city. From the water coming out of the tap, to its disposal to the water treatment plant: you will see the consequences of your daily rituals in practice!

From 15.09.23 to 16.06.24, you can discover our temporary exhibition Rattus at the museum. Discover all about this rodent that lives in the vast network that stretches out beneath our feet. Our guide will take you through this visually powerful exhibition in which the museum wants to get rid of some prejudices and stereotypes about rats.
Despite the fact that the museum is cleaned regularly, the main drain and the walkway along the River Senne may be dirty.
Therefore, the Museum asks parents with toddlers to be particularly careful.

From the tap to the wastewater treatment plant, from the ovoid sewer to the collector sewer – follow the meandering path of our urban waterways. You will learn how brushing your teeth, taking a bath or washing your clothes has a direct impact on the functioning of the sewers! An extraordinary and enlightening trip into the bowels of the city!
