Ready for a visit to the Brussels sewers?

Plan your visit

Discover the Brussels beneath your feet

There’s always something new to discover in Brussels, right? Our museum is hidden beneath the two toll houses at the Porte d’Anderlecht/Anderlechtsepoort, far beneath the busy streets of the city: you enter through one toll house and exit through the other.

Walk along the river Senne and even along a main sewer

Make sure you bring a nose clip, because not only will you be discovering science and history during your visit, but also walking along the river Senne, and right through the main sewer under Chaussée de Mons/Bergensesteenweg! Can you spot a rat?

Learn about the impressive underground systems

Did you know that you can learn a lot about public health from sewage water? Or that rats are actually useful? Or that underground passages prevent the city from flooding? During your visit, you will be delving into the science and history of this hidden river and its sewers.

Step into the shoes of a sewer worker

What does a day look like for a sewer worker? What do they actually do down there? In this museum, we shed light on the misunderstood work of sewer workers.

Theme of the year

After the rain…

In May 2024, it rained for a whopping 23 days. Few were happy about this new record set last spring, but the Sewer Museum has decided to take a more detailed look at this topical issue, following the success of its first themed year, Rattus. Our new theme aims to raise public awareness on solutions for managing rainwater sustainably. In cities, it is increasingly difficult for water to make its way into the soil.
